She barked, yelped, and cried nearly the entire way.
She said, “We saw that she very underweight. Her legs are kind of bent, like she had been kept in a crate. She was also very hand-shy so she definitely had not been treated well.” So, as soon as they got out, their first stop was the vet who confirmed that Sugarplum was very underweight and also noted that she was hand shy, meaning she had likely been beaten or otherwise mistreated by her former owner.
After getting her checkup done, Sugarplum arrived at her foster family’s house and began to calm down and interact with her caretakers in a friendly way.
After just two days of living with a foster family, Sugarplum got her forever home. Even the workers at Rescue Dogs Rock NYC were stunned at how quickly they’d been able to find her a home. But they were confident that this is the family for Sugarplum and that the pup would have a great and lovely life with them. And in three days, Sugarplum went from a shy, scared puppy who’d never known a loving home or stability, to the new member of a loving family.
