Memories, no matter good or bad, sweet or bitter, stay with you forever. They are an always open and accessible gateway into the past that can make the present even more joyful. In times when people are occupied with their own selves, the worries for their future and the zeal to make their life successful, they tend to forget what all combined to make their present day the way it is. Just like Gretchen Rubin says, “One of the best ways to make yourself happy in the present is to recall happy times from the past. Photos are a great memory-prompt, and because we tend to take photos of happy occasions, they weight our memories to the good.” And we couldn’t agree more. Your past lays the foundation for your present on which you can build your future. Likewise, a teen recreated a happy moment from her past and began a streak of praises on the internet.
18-year-old Madeleine Tarin decided to do something special on her high school graduation day.
She along with her parents decided to re-create a photo of them taken at her mother’s own graduation in 2000. She said, “It’s one of my favorite photos ever since I was little.” Madeleine who graduated from Chino Hills High School in California said, “I thought it was unique and it represented my life in a nutshell.”
She feels that even though she was conceived at an unexpected time, her parents have given her the best life.
“My mom and dad got together when my mom was in her freshman year of high school,” said Madeleine. She further added, “My mom was pregnant at 15 but had me when she was 16.” She said that her parents then stayed in high school, and her dad worked to support them, with the help of her amazing grandparents.
Her parents got married when they were 23 and 25, saved and bought their own house, and waited to have two other kids, told Madeleine.
The teen will be attending Rider University in New Jersey on an athletic and academic scholarship to play Division 1 soccer in the fall. She credits her parents for her achievement as she said this would not have been possible if they hadn’t put her and later her two younger sisters in club soccer, which was a ‘big expense for the family.’
