The text was sent by Shantel Wesson, the assistant manager, firstly the rejection took place minutes after the interview and above that it had an inappropriate emoji to the text, as you can see in the image above which defined the unprofessional attitude of the manager. Megan posted it on her social media and captioned it as,”Imagine going for a job interview and the woman says she will email u in a few days but then waits 1 minute after u leave to text u this ”
“The interviewer was unprepared and her phone was going off throughout the interview. So unprofessional”
She further expressed that the interviewer had a very unprofessional approach and she didn’t even take a look at her CV,”[Wesson] didn’t even shake my hand, didn’t have my CV out and was just sat drinking a coffee.” Talking about the emoji she expressed her feelings, “It was a really bitchy thing to do.”
After the post went viral the restaurant was under fire for letting something like this take place under their nose.
The story that soon took over the internet and that put the assistant manager and the owners under fire and their representatives told in their interview,”It was never our intention to be disrespectful or upset her in any way. The texts were sent in error and were intended for our manager, not the candidate.” The funny thing is that the restaurant hasn’t even opened yet and is already on their path of damage control and image repair.
Megan has received a lot of support and people have sent out various tweets supporting her.
All this stands to prove that it was highly unprofessional for Wesson to do and the apology by the restaurant is just no good enough. Yet this by far is the most hurtful rejection story we’ve ever heard.
