James got back to the apartment three hours after Abi had left on January 7 this year, having tried to give her time to “cool off”.
“James said Abi is gone. We had a silly row, she went back to the room. She hung herself. She’s died. He said [the row] was nothing. They did not really row. I did not see them all the time but they had a whole future planned. That night she had too much to drink. She had gone back in a huff,” told Mrs. Brown at the inquest at Portsmouth Coroner’s Court. She said they got to know about all this through James’s call at 4 am UK time.
“I know in her mind she thought he was going to follow her back, find her and they would move on and never have that row again,” she said.
During the inquest, it was checked if Abigail had a history of mental illness and it was found out that Abi never took her life for granted except in that one moment. The coroner, Samantha Marsh, agreed with Abi’s mom’s belief that it was an unintentional death, and gave a verdict of misadventure
