After a short while, B.B. had warmed up enough to Jessica so that she could remove her from the cage.
“I remember how tiny and frail she was in my hands,” Jessica said. “I pulled her close to my body, and she leaned into me.” Right away, the people of HSUS took her to Cabarrus Animal Hospital. There the little sweetheart caught the attention of Brenda Tortoreo, who worked there as a receptionist.
Tortoreo even mentioned in an interview that from the very first moment she laid eyes on B.B., she knew she’s going to share her life with this one.
She said “She looked pitiful. She was scared to death… And I said, ‘That’s the one I’m going to take home.’” But having spent all her life in a tiny cage, B.B. was fighting a battle of her own. Initially, she seemed all confused and lost at Tortoreo’s place.
