“Sex sells”, seems to be the motto of the entertainment industry these days.With loads of uber hot and sexy doll faces entering the industry every day, there seems to be a serious deficit of normal or what we refer to as ‘average’ lookers. But this story is certainly breaking all the stereotypes and throwing the common notions about beautiful women getting everything easy out of the window as beauty proved to be a curse for Denny Kwan.
Recently, a Cambodian actress has been banned from making any new movies for a year because the country’s cultural bosses say she is ‘too sexy’.
Denny Kwan, 24, an established actress, who has appeared in numerous movies had a ‘re-education’ session with the Culture and Fine Arts Ministry after they declared that she had violated a code of conduct. The actress has about 300,000 Facebook followers from around the world and said that the parts she played in movies were nothing like the erotic roles played by other actresses.
‘In Cambodia, there are many sexy artists. Some are even more than me when shooting, featuring kissing and being erotic,’ she said.
She mentioned in an interview ‘I know it’s my right to dress how I want, but our culture, Cambodian people, cannot accept it,’ and she further added ‘I will now try not to be sexy as I usually am when I post on Facebook.’ She also revealed that when she was first called before culture ministry officials they ‘educated me like a daughter’, but she still reserved the right to keep dressing as she wished.
